What is the purpose of an airbag vest?

As we all know, horse riding can be dangerous. In fact, every time we ride, we are dealing with an animal that weighs over 500 kilos, and sometimes we are not in complete harmony with our horse, which unfortunately can result in a fall. A few milliseconds is all it takes for a Hit-Air airbag to deploy when we fall, providing unique protection for the torso, and in particular the spine, from the neck to the coccyx. The airbag vest inflates thanks to the CO2 cartridge, which is released from the connection ball, itself connected to the saddle via a strap and buckle system. Once a cartridge has been triggered, it must be replaced using a set of screws and keys provided with the purchase of the vest. Equipping oneself with an airbag vest while horse riding allows for greater safety during falls and helps to avoid any complications that may arise as a result of a fall. So, prevention is better than cure!

Hit-Air, the reference in airbag vests

The Japanese company Mugen Denko was the first in the world, in 1998 and after 3 years of development, to offer a body protection airbag for motorcyclists under the brand Hit-Air. Quickly becoming an international leader due to the quality and technological innovation of its products, the Hit-Air brand continues the Japanese expertise in motorcycle equipment and is quickly expanding with an equestrian range. Its airbag vests are now distributed in more than twenty countries around the world.

  • Security: This is the key word for Hit-Air airbags, which are designed with a focus on securing horse riding and providing maximum protection for the rider during a fall.

  • Comfort: Understanding the practice of horse riding, the equestrian range designers and developers work on models that are compatible with this discipline, allowing the rider freedom of movement and maximum comfort.

The Hit-Air Child Airbag Vest -25kg (for the little ones)

The Hit-Air Child Airbag Vest -25kg is designed to protect riders from the age of 7 for a more serene practice of horse riding. It is available in one size for children from 20kg minimum, with a height ranging from 1.30m to 1.55m and a chest measurement of 65cm to 85cm. This vest will be perfect for young riders who want to be protected and feel more secure on ponies.

To choose the right size for your Hit-Air airbag, consider the following elements:

  • The airbag vest must not be worn under clothing. Measurements should therefore be taken on the dressed rider (with all clothing likely to be worn under the airbag vest).

  • You must have enough room to place both fists (of hands) between your chest and your airbag.

  • A set of extension buckles, sold separately, will allow you to gain 15 cm in waist and chest circumference. This is practical for putting your airbag vest over your coat in winter or over your cross-country vest.

  • To allow optimal protection of the sacrum, the deployed rear balloon must cover half of the rider's buttocks.
