Why use a basket?

Prevention of overgrazing, unwanted weight gain, laminitis, colic and obesity are some of the most serious diseases in horses. Living in the pasture plays an essential role in the digestive health of horses since the constant presence of grass keeps stomach acids occupied and balanced. With the ThinLine Cart, you allow your horse to stay happy, socialize, exercise and meet their digestive health needs. Made from a durable, flexible material that dramatically improves comfort, it is also gentle on horses' teeth and lips.

Hole size:

Veterinary recommendations are a hole of 3.5 to 4 cm for a horse all the time in the meadow, 2 cm for an occasional meadow (often necessary for horses with metabolic problems). The 3 cm hole of the ThinLine basket can be enlarged to meet all needs.

  • Step 1 :
Use the supplied paper ties or a string to choose the best holes to attach your horse's basket to your halter. The paper ties are a temporary tool allowing you to easily adjust the basket.
    2nd step :
Two of the fins have a triangle cut out. These attach to the square rings (sides) of your halter. Three fins attach to the noseband, one in the center and the other two will fall naturally to the sides. Three fins attach below: one in the center, two on the sides.
    Step 3:
First, secure each triangle-cut fin with one of the supplied low-profile cable ties. Do not wrap the fins around the halter, this may cause chafing.
    Step 4:
When properly installed, the basket should be close to but not touching the horse's nose.
    Step 5:
Once you are satisfied and the correct holes are lined up on the halter, please remove the paper ties or string and permanently secure the horse basket with the ties provided. After finding the best fit for your horse, simply cut off the excess material just above the top hole used. You can wait a day or two to make sure your basket is a comfortable distance from your horse's mouth before cutting it.
