The black Greenguard basket is a simple solution to reduce a horse's grass ingestion without limiting its grazing time and contact with congeners. It was developed in collaboration with veterinarians (Greenguard halter sold separately).

 

The GreenGuard basket is truly the most comfortable pasture basket on the market. It limits weed intake as much as a traditional basket but is more comfortable, lighter and cooler with a patented open design that allows unrestricted breathing and drinking. Made of non-toxic, food grade, UV resistant material for long life, semi-flexible, durable and not absorbing moisture, GreenGuard crates often last much longer than traditional crates because horses do not don't constantly try to remove and destroy them.

 

The basket comes with 4 detachable safety straps which attach to a standard halter (a safety halter is recommended) or it can be attached to the Greenguard halter which has a ring on the noseband for easy attachment, a central strap for stabilization, and the padded noseband.

Laminitis can be prevented by avoiding high-risk situations. The following is a list of "causes" or circumstances that precede the onset of laminitis:

Obesity
Ingestion of foods high in carbohydrates or rapidly fermentable fiber, i.e. cereals, coarse mixes, fast growing
Any disease that involves toxemia. This can be a bacterial infection or as a result of ingesting toxic plants or chemicals.
Cushing's disease
Equine Metabolic Syndrome
Stress. Deworming, vaccination, travel or separation from a “conspecific” can trigger a laminitis crisis.
Overeating/obesity are the most common high-risk situations that lead to laminitis.
